Finally, Xenoverse 2 provides players with way more customization in terms of character appearance and moves. Dragon Ball FighterZ represents one of the cleanest and most polished combat system of DBZ games, while Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is by far the most in depth look at the show's story. Though a sequel to any of the aforementioned games would be welcomed by fans, the best thing for Bandai Namco to do would be to release a new game altogether. Of course, the fact that Xenoverse 2 will be released on PS5 is slightly concerning, but doesn't rule out a sequel in the future. Given that it has been four years since the release of a Xenoverse title, it wouldn't be surprising to see the game on next gen consoles. There are a lot of improvements to the game that could be made in a sequel, and fan support for this would likely be overwhelming. Likewise, Dragon Ball FighterZ is still releasing new characters and growing.ĭragon Ball Xenoverse 3 on the other hand is long overdue, and Xenoverse 2 can only tide fans over for so long. The only way a sequel could be made would be to focus on Dragon Ball Super content, and that's already been added in the form of DLC. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is simply too new at this point and still hasn't even ran the course of its season pass. Of the three series currently running the show, Xenoverse is definitely next in line for a sequel.
The obvious place to start when guessing at what comes next for Dragon Ball Z games is a sequel. RELATED: Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 2 Should Add Master Roshi as a Support Character Finally, 2020 marked Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's release, a truly story focused game. Two years later, Dragon Ball FighterZ came out, taking fans back to the traditional 2D fighting style of DBZ game but in a much more polished and stylistic way. The Xenoverse saga continued to expand in 2016 when Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 released, but has since subsisted off add-on content. This was a title that took a very different approach to the standard Dragon Ball game formula, a change that fans appreciated at the time. The current era of Dragon Ball Zgames began in 2015 with the release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse.
At the moment, three series dominate the world of Dragon Ball games, those being Xenoverse, FighterZ, and as of this year, Kakarot. It seems there are a number of potential options for the next DBZ game, but the real question is which of these choices is most likely to happen, and which would fans like to see more. In terms of Dragon Ball Z games, it isn't very clear what will come next. Dragon Ball FighterZ is out now for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has been out for quite some time now, and given the slow rate at which it is releasing DLC, players are ready for something new.
